MEET THE OWNER MATTHEW LEE.

Widely considered as a premier basketball trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist, Matthew Lee has trained athletes from the NBA, NCAA, high school and middle school levels. After firmly establishing himself throughout his HS, collegiate career and during his first season as a professional basketball player, Matthew shifted his focus and channeled his first hand playing experience and burning passion for player development towards helping young athletes develop their game and get noticed. His basketball training philosophy is now followed by hundreds of athletes worldwide and was used to transform his own game from being cut from the Seton Hall Prep JV team to leading the country in scoring and landing a full ride NCAA Division 1 scholarship.

Matthew Lee founded Essex County Sports officially in 2018.

Lee's vision was to create a training and consulting agency that could represent today's basketball elite as a brand. His goal is to use the Essex County Sports brand to lead athletes down the right path and accomplish all of their goals. Through hard work and overcoming adversity, life lessons are learned. Essex County Sports wants you to DO MORE—maximizing your full potential in sports, business and in life.

As a professional basketball player in Europe, Matthew is well traveled. He’s played professionally in France, Germany, and Brazil.

Like anyone who has chosen to dedicate their life to something they love, accolades begin to pile up for Matthew leading the NCAA in scoring his senior season with 30.2ppg, 7.2rpg, 5.4 apg, and 1.8 spg earning him  CUNYAC Player of the Year & All-CUNYAC First team selection, ECAC Division II Metro All-First Team, D3hoops.com 2016 Men's All-Atlantic Region First Team , MBWA All-Met Division III First Team & 2x MBWA

D-II/D-III Player of the Week, & NABC All-District Second Team. Lee also played HS basketball at powerhouse Westtown School where he still remains the all-time leading scorer.

When he’s not playing basketball, Matthew works hard to hone his business acumen. He has worked in sports management and law and has consulted for numerous international companies.
